Adam Tierney

Tierney is currently a second-year graduate student at the University of California, San Diego studying cognitive neuroscience. As a Wells Scholar, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cognitive Science and Spanish from Indiana University. While at IU he worked in the Speech Research Lab, investigating among other topics the effects of musical experience on verbal memory; at UC San Diego he hopes to use brain imaging to explore the circuitry of human auditory cortex.

During his undergraduate years Tierney was a writer for the Indiana Daily Student and Hoosier Review, as well as an IU Student Association senator. In addition, over the past five or six years he joined or formed no less than ten rock bands, all of which were monumental failures.
