Hoosiers in Space

Montpelier, IN native Kevin Ford (a fellow alumnus of my high school) piloted space shuttle mission STS-128 in August and September, following in the footsteps of Hoosiers like Gus Grissom and a long list of astronauts with ties to Indiana. Although Ford graduated from Notre Dame, he requested that the Indiana fight song be played as a wakeup call on September 1, in honor of his late brother, David C. Ford, an Indiana University alumnus and former state senator. The Muncie Star-Press has a nice interview with Kevin Ford on his experience as an astronaut.

Anyone who is in the Lafayette area should visit the Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering. There is a nice statue of alumnus Neil Armstrong there, and in the lobby you can find a moon rock and a life-size model of one of the Apollo capsules.

However, Go Hoosiers! (Any time I say something nice about Purdue I have to say that ten times. I am still a Hoosier through-and-through).

I really love hearing stories about Hoosiers (of any, or no, collegiate persuasion) doing neat things.
