Twitter-ific!

Twitter founder and CEO Evan Williams is headed to the White House for a “young business leaders” summit to discuss the economic crises. Ugh. The articles offers this gem:

With 6 million members and 700% plus growth, Twitter makes no money in the US. (It sells some ads in Japan).

I’ve previously offered my thoughts on Twitter here, but I think I was outdone by Jon Stewart.
I had forgotten until today that Evan Williams is not only responsible for the heinous monstrosity that is Twitter, but he also coined the unfortunate term “blog”. Thus, Mr. Williams may single-handedly be responsible for two of the worst technology words to come out of the last ten years.

Funny – your “I Hate Twitter” post resonated with me, but it also led me into looking at the service again.
Yeah, it’s still press worthless, and I still struggle to see the point.
But not entirely worthless. I appreciate that people post links throughout the day, and I follow folks with similar interests. It sits in the background while I do other stuff, updating automatically. A great little linkdump.
So, I still hate Twitter. Just a little less than I did before.
