Around the World in Seven Years

Relevant Magazine interviews 26-year old Daren Wendell from Indianapolis, who is walking around the world. He started 140 days ago and estimates the trip will take him seven years. If he makes it, Daren will be just the fourth person to do it, and the youngest. Daren must have a thing for difficult adventures, as he has already ridden a bike from Oregon to Virginia Beach, a trip which took 74 days.
He’s doing it in part for Blood:Water Mission, a Christian charity that digs fresh water wells in Africa. Check out Daren’s web site, The Earth Expedition.

  1. Very interesting, and certainly admirable. But I can’t help but notice this bit from his interview:
I was finishing up a two-year internship at a church on the west side of Indianapolis, and my life was becoming increasingly more explainable. Whenever that happens, it usually means that the supernatural is not taking place, which means God’s spirit’s not working in my life.
This reeks of pop Christianity and, from my study, has no foundation in Christian scripture or theology.
