Some weeks back, Joshua noted that the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) shut down its long-running and well-regarded radio program, Issues, Etc., in what appeared to be a fit of denominational politics. Fans, Lutheran and not, were outraged and launched protests and petitions trying to get the program back.
Today, Issues, Etc. returned to the air under the flag of Pirate Christian Radio. Scheduled for weekdays 1-3pm Pacific time, Issues, Etc. joins two other programs (for now) in the fledgling lineup. Check it out.
It is interesting that during the first hour of the new show Pastor Wilken and Producer Schwartz confirmed that many times in the past (daily?) they had commented to each other that the best thing to happen to the show would be for them to be fired.
While still firmly in the “confessional” Lutheran camp, they are free from the big brother LCMS administration looking over their shoulders and implicitly affecting programming and opinions expressed on the broadcast.
