President Bush commenting on the improvements in U.S. student test scores:
"As yesterday's positive report card shows, childrens do learn when standards are high and results are measured."
It's true.

I'm inclined to believe that these gaffes aren't because Bush doesn't know proper grammar, but that he's not a good public speaker.
Lord knows I'd hate to have everything I ever said in public transcripted and analyzed for correct grammar and word usage, but...whatever.

I totally agree, Eric. People close to the president often comment how he is extremely bright-- but intelligence and soundbites are not always the same thing.
Indeed, the opposite can be true of a lot of people also-- good public speakers who are really, really dumb.
