Quote of the Week Weak

President Bush commenting on the improvements in U.S. student test scores:

"As yesterday's positive report card shows, childrens do learn when standards are high and results are measured."
It's true.

The sad thing is that all he really needs is a good White House Toastmasters club.

I'm inclined to believe that these gaffes aren't because Bush doesn't know proper grammar, but that he's not a good public speaker.

Lord knows I'd hate to have everything I ever said in public transcripted and analyzed for correct grammar and word usage, but...whatever.

I totally agree, Eric. People close to the president often comment how he is extremely bright-- but intelligence and soundbites are not always the same thing.

Indeed, the opposite can be true of a lot of people also-- good public speakers who are really, really dumb.
