A Holiday Christmas Tradition I Do Not Miss
Is it me, or are there fewer articles and news reports about the supposed War on Christmas this year? Last year, the media (and ITA here, here, here, and here) covered the issue extensively, but coverage seems strangely absent this year. Is the war over? Did we win? Is Fox not selling a book this year?
Maybe the media has decided it's a civil war (minimalist Protestants concerned about the holiday's "pagan origins" wrote some of the earliest anti-Christmas diatribes in the 19th century) and not worth their attention.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that the most recent battle in the war on Christmas was fought in early November. But fear not, keyboard-commandoes...the war on Christmas will surely return next year, for some strange reason...as we Jesus-haters make another attempt to ensure that we all spend December 25th at Osama's homo-abortion-pot-and-commie-jizzporium!!!

No national elections this year?
Perhaps we have lost the War on the War on Christmas.

I believe it's now a "Cold War on Christmas." Not as thrilling to read about as those pitched battles in Macy's and at Denver's downtown holiday Parade of Lights.

Thomas Sowell, today on NRO:
We have bowed to the little totalitarians like the so-called American Civil Liberties Union who try each year to stamp out more symbols of Christmas. They have even intimidated many schools and businesses into changing the name of their “Christmas vacation†to the “winter holiday.†Some stores have been intimidated into dropping the phrase “Merry Christmas.â€
