OK Go!

Arguably the hottest new band on the music scene is "OK Go", an American band that, in their words, is "part indie rock, part stadium rock, part straight up pop with the occasional whiff of Weezer or The Cars or Elliott Smith." Their music alone should be enough to win you over, but it's their ingenius self-made videos which are also helping boost their popularity. According to some authorities they've created the most downloaded music video ever with over 9 million downloads. Below the fold I've posted two of their best.

I highly recommend the OK GO performance from the MTV VMAs as well; it's the same as the link above, but this time they did it 100% live. (The video above actually took three days to shoot.)

While we're on the subject, I also reccommend the Shakira performance from the VMAs, but for somewhat different reasons. :D

I love these videos. Thank God for YouTube.

I love this hypnotic video called "The Little Girl Giant" on YouTube. It's here. Music is "Decollage" by Balayeurs du Desert (and samples Blossom Dearie's, "It Amazes Me"). The video chronicles a 30 foot tall marionette in the Horseguards Parade in London. She was created and operated by the European street theater group Royal de Luxe as part of their show The Sultan's Elephant, celebrating the 100th anniversary of Jules Verne's death.

It's great to see a quality little indie band get so much love. There are hundreds of other good rock bands out there; they just don't all make kick ass videos.

The music is cool, but their dance routines look like stuff my high school dance team used to do in the 80s. Only we did the routines in short skirts and heels (with or without pom-poms).

I wonder what they would do with "Celebration" by Kool & the Gang? ;)
