Wow
This Fox News headline made me bust out laughing: "Al Gore's Global Warming Movie: Could It Destroy Our Economy?"

Has Al Gore been able to determine what's causing the polar icecaps to melt on Mars?

it's the environment, stupid.

Of course, there are independent reasons for Mars' possible climatic changes
http://oregonstate.edu/dept/ncs/newsarch/2005/May05/marsmystery.htm
and they don't even look like _global_ warming, so much as regional variations
http://www.realclimate.org/index.php?p=192
so I don't think Gore (or anyone else who cares about global warming) should have many worries in this regard.

Right. Six billion human beings contanstly belching and spewing filth across every corner of this planet 24/7 couldn't possibly impact the biosphere. That's just crazy talk.

Could Al Gore's movie destroy the economy? I suppose if it's a real flop....

"Could Al Gore's movie destroy the economy?"
Of course not. Look at his success with the Internet.
"Six billion human beings contanstly belching and spewing filth across every corner of this planet 24/7 couldn't possibly impact the biosphere."
If global warming is caused by "six billion human beings contanstly belching and spewing filth across every corner of this planet 24/7", then how is global warming responsible for the disappearance of dinosaurs when (allegedly) dinosaurs and humans did not co-exist? ;)

Did a review of scientific literature including remote sensing articles in the 90's concerning deforestation in Amazonia. It was discovered that both the total area and rate were overestimated due to incorrect interpretation of the data.
Government policy did more to create dopey land-use than anything else. Now, with the discovery of, "tierra prieta", science is looking at fertilizing nutrient-poor soils through biological means.
The point is, environmentalists are our, "Chicken Littles". Overstate everything, focus on the least important environmental problems, and do more to cause disbelief.
I do believe that I am more concerned with lead in our urban and suburban soils becoming airborn during dry times, thereby causing an increase in blood levels and a corresponding decrease in IQ's, than global warming.
btw...who all lives in the city? (Just a hunch)
