Good job on asking this question!
On Friday May 19th and Wednesday March 24th I wrote about this same issue. However, I should note that I think in the end this strategy (speaking to the right; voting to the left) will work for Bayh. It worked for Bill Clinton in 1992. I think it could work again.
In the meantime, it is unfair to voters in Indiana, who deserve to know what Bayh really believes. I cannot figure it out. I don’t think anyone else knows either.

I’m a native of Indiana and admire Senator Bayh’s father but don’t know that much about the son. I do know that there is no such word as “your’s”.

It is very hard for me to believe that either Hillary Clinton or Evan Bayh are actually more hawkish on Iran than President Bush. It’s currently very easy for Senators to talk tough on Iran.

Bayh, with Ms. Clinton, are about the two biggest hawks on Iran and have proclaimed their determination to confront Iran at AIPAC (I was there). So, with either of these two, we get a President who is to the right of Bush on Iran (he has a wait and see attitude). I cannot see any Dems voting for this guy. His campaign is all about saying nothing but reminding the AIPAC crowd of donors that he’ll take out Iran (look at his FEC donor list and check their affiliations). As an old time Jewish liberal, I say “no way.” We libs, black and white, Jew and non-Jew, are the base. Bayh will be lucky to pull as well as Joltin Joe Lieberman in the primaries.

“Bayh-Partisan” – I lived in Indiana in the early 60’s and I distinctly remember my parents having such a bumper sticker when the current Sen. Bayh’s father, Birch, was running for re-election. 1964 perhaps? It was a clever then and remains so.
