Personally, I'd say it was the Vietnam war, but that's just me.

Are you implying that JFK was going to get us out of the war if he survived?

There are those who believe he was headed in that direction, yes. It is also worth questionning what Kennedy would have done about the "Gulf of Tonkin Incident" when compared to Johnson's full scale response.
