On the other hand

In a forceful Wall Street Journal piece, Rush Limbaugh says the current GOP infighting over the Harriet Miers nomination “shows the strength of the conservative movement. This is no ‘crackup.’ It’s a crackdown.”

  1. Conservatives are getting sick and tired of getting the shaft. A just war and a modest tax cut don’t make up for overspending and the gutlessness regarding a judicial filibuster that should have been nuked in the previous term. The right is largely nervous about Roberts, despite the leftist apoplexy over his nomination. Now another uncertain SCOTUS nomination has been dished out, and a lot of conservatives feel that Bush is gambling recklessly with the Supreme Court, prioritizing ability to get past the Dems over Constitutional muster. They want the political appeasement over judicial nominations to stop once and for all.

  2. Jim S Jim S says:

Let’s see, Rush and the WSJ opinion page which should be subtitled “An RNC Publication”. Oooooh, what a shock that it’s full of worship of God’s Own Party.

  3. That makes no sense Jim. If you’d read the article you’d realize that Rush isn’t offering a positive view of Bush or the Miers confirmation (indeed he has expressed skepticism of Miers). Instead he’s arguing that debate over the nomination is a healthy thing for conservatives to engage in.
