Cindy Sheehan is leaving Crawford to tend to her mother, who has just had a stroke.

Cindy's only just left Crawford, but it appears that we may already have a new candidate for "the latest poster person of the anti-war movement," as Eric Seymour puts it.
This new "poster person" is male, a Vietnam veteran, from the solidly Republican state of Nebraska, and is a U.S. Senator ---excellent!
While Chuck Hagel traveled around his home state this week, he's been acknowledging that our military presence in Iraq is becoming harder and harder to justify. He thinks Iraq faces a serious danger of civil war that threatens ME stability.
"We are seen as occupiers, we are targets. We have got to get out. I don't think we can sustain our current policy, nor do I think we should," he said at one stop.
Right on, Chuck!... Oh, wait a minute, he's a pol, so he's probably running for re-election, not "poster boy." He's probably just responding to the "deep unease" of the voters of his overwhelmingly Republican state towards the Iraq War and "Bush's credibility gap," to quote Reuters.
*Sigh* Well, I guess the good news in all this is that the pres can finally relax and enjoy his summer vacation!!! Gas up the weed whacker!
