Normally I might link to this post under ITA’s new “Daily Digest” feature, but this is such a great post I wanted to draw special attention to it. Colby Cash, in “Bigger than life,” writes one of the best blogosphere tributes to the greatest band the world has ever known. It’s short, too, which is why you should click over and read it now.
I happen to like warmed-over rockabilly; in fact, I am going to see the Old 97s this week.
Also, sounds from the new Oasis album are starting to leak out.
I really want to use this post as an excuse to rail along about how corporate radio and conglomerate record/distribution companies have stripped the pop landscape of the artist as songwriter, reversed all the progress that the Beatles made, and shoved virus back into the vial, as Cash’s metaphor might go, but I don’t quite have the energy.
Ben Folds and Old 97’s are both in Indy (sadly, at different venues) Thursday, and I can’t make either show.
Of course, there are plenty of crappy concerts later this summer that I’ll have no problem getting to – if I wanted to go.
