Congratulations to the North Carolina Tar Heels, who won the NCAA men’s basketball championship by playing 40 minutes of top-notch basketball, highlighted by the stellar performance of Bloomington, Indiana native Sean May.
Accolades also go to Kentucky native and Loiusville grad Aaron Johnson, winner of the first annual In The Agora tournament pick’em competition. His pick set “AJ’s picks” came in first place.
Update: Added the name of the winner above. Also, FYI–193 days until midnight madness kicks off the 2005-06 college basketball season!
Congrats to AJ’s picks. I wound up tied for 5th out of 15. Not too shabby considering the general state of my knowledge of college basketball.
Great game last night, wonderful job by Sean May and his entire team.
Fantastic tournament! (I’m AJ from AJ’s Picks) As a Kentucky native and a Louisville grad, I was so happy to see my teams do so well. It’s going to be a long 8 months till college hoops comes back.
Unfortunately, my blog (http://www.twoaarons.com/nobloghere/) has been out of commission for a while now (hopefully to return soon…hey, it lives up to the name) so don’t worry about a link. I’ll settle for the quiet satisfaction of a good 5 minutes of fame.
I thoroughly enjoyed the tournament in light of how horrible I did on my picks. I had Illinois winning from the get-go, but alas, NC played MUCH better than IL.
Think about my quandry. I spent my first 2 years at UofI and spent my last 2 years at UNC. I live in Illinois right now but am moving to North Carolina this summer.
Is ITA not going to congratulate Baylor University, the NCAA women’s basketball champions?
I believe they played 40 minutes of top-notch basketball, too.
