As you might’ve noticed, the banner above is different from the previous one. I believe it’s cleaner and more professional, not to mention easier on the eyes. But we’re interested in your thoughts.
The structure in the background is the Gate of Athena Archegetis in Athens, Greece. It stands as an entrance to the west side of the Roman Agora. The monumental entrance has a row of four Doric columns and a socle made of Pentelic marble. It was constructed in 11 B.C. with the donations of Julius Caesar and Augustus and was dedicated by the People (Demos) of Athens to their patroness, Athena Archegetis (Athena who governs).
Update: Here’s the old banner, in case you want to compare.
Dang. I generally consider myself an observant person, but I can’t recall the old banner. Anywhere I can see it to compare?
I’ve added a link for ya.
I can’t tell the difference.
In the previous one, the words are smaller and to the left. The structure on the right is faded so that it almost looks drawn, rather than real photography. Also the structure on the right is a lesser known part of the Agora in Corinth, whereas the new one is a prominent entrance to the agora in Athens.
I like it.
the old one was like the one at the top of these comments
I actually like the old one better. Does that make me a conservative?
The banner at the top of my screen right now is “agora6.jpg.” Am I looking at the new one or the old one? Also, the top of the “I” and “h” in “In the” are as high as the point where the roof meets the third pillar, and the bottom of the “g” in “Agora” is as low as the bottom of the base of the first pillar. Maybe I am having a problem with “cookies,” if that is something that a person who knows a lot about computers would say.
The banner at the top of the comment box is the old banner. The banner at the top of the main page should look different.
Ah, a different graphic loaded on the main page after I hit refresh. Now I see the difference.
I think it would look better if we added “blink” and “marquee,” and maybe if the letters were all different colours.
Hit F5 on the main page if you cannot see the new banner.
I can see it now. It looks good.
OK. I like the old one better, too. But at least I’ve just confirmed that I’m not going insane. Whatever computer I was using that day was not showing me the new banner – I have it now. And for the record, I would’ve noticed the change.
