Bridging the gap

“Just when you thought bipartisanship was dead, along comes rookie Democratic Sen. Barack Obama and newly minted Republican Party Chairman Ken Mehlman,” Washington Whispers notes. “Seems the two were pals at Harvard Law School in the early 1990s and are still friendly today. Insiders tell us that they traded notes during the 2004 election, when Mehlman managed the Bush-Cheney re-election, and have talked since Election Day.”

  1. Round the Reader

It’s Thursday and that means it is time for my RtR, but before I get to it, a reminder. We have David from ISOU to our group and he will be covering weekends. Don’t forget to check it out.
    Away we go…

I was eerily reading this at the time of your post this early morning, also mentions this almost verbatim.
I was going to post a link to it in US News & World Report until I realized that you referenced it as Washington Whispers rather than US&NR. :)

On a side note, Sen. Obama looked me dead in the eye and wished me a Happy St Patrick’s Day last Saturday when I was on Columbus St in Chicago watching the St Patrick’s Day Parade.
Also, in the same issue of US&NR, it mentions that Porter Goss and John Negroponte are old Yale chums, just like Sen. Kerry and Pres. Bush were.
Perhaps the Washington Whispers of 2035 will mention the closeness and comaraderie of we Indiana University alums.
