« Our Young Blackshirts | Main | Evan Bayh » February 01, 2005Sex EdIn a study that we'll likely hear about a lot in the coming days, researchers at Texas A&M University found that despite taking courses emphasizing abstinence-only themes, teenagers in 29 high schools became increasingly sexually active. We shouldn't be all that surprised that sexual activity among teens progresses during a given time period. Does abstinence education slow sexual activity? This research doesn't seem to compare studied children with a control group over the same period, at least according to the news reports. I'm sure that research will come to light eventually, and those will be the studies worth examining in detail. Mother Nature intends for teenagers to become sexually active and does all in her considerable power to ensure it. It is society that attempts to channel, by marriage, for instance, the practical results of Nature's powers so that the ends of human society may be met.
