More Tension in the East China Sea

Japan Times reports that two Japanese firms are in talks with Tokyo to begin drilling for natural gas in the East China Sea. The resources lie near territory claimed by both Japan and China; last October, a Chinese firm drilling very near the border of Japan’s exclusive economic zone was accused by Tokyo of “invading” Japan’s economic rights.
